Acrylic nails give women the look of strong, long and healthy nails, but the glue used to apply them can be difficult to apply without dripping. Because the glue is very strong, it can be difficult to remove it from the fabric. Remove it as soon as possible to prevent it from adhering completely and you will have to use a solvent to remove it. Take the fabric to a professional if it is delicate silk, velvet, or lace. These fabrics will not be able to withstand the tough process of glue removal. A dry cleaning facility may be able to use professional grade dry cleaning solvent to remove nail glue.
You will need to:
- Knife
- Acetone
- Cloths
Steps to follow:
1.Dry the damp glue from the fabric if it has not yet hardened.
2.Scrape the nail glue off the fabric with the edge of a knife. Be careful not to make a hole in the fabric, but work quickly before the glue settles completely.
3.Dip a small, clean cloth in acetone. Drain it so that it is moist but not very wet.
4.Dry the nail glue stain with acetone. Work from the edges of the stain toward the center, until the glue is gone or until it is loose enough that the surface of the fabric can be pried off.
5.Immediately rinse the fabric with clean water and wash as you normally do.
Tips
- Acetone can damage some fabrics. Apply a little to a hidden area of the fabric, such as an interior seam, before applying to the glue area.
